Cabinet Care...

Natural Wood Finish vs. Painted Cabinets:

You're making a big investment on your home and you want it to stay looking nice for a long time.

Natural or Stained Wood Cabinets are the most durable choice, and require little to no maintenance over time. Scratches & dents aren't as noticeable, and are easy to touch up with clear coat if need be.  Water can dull the finish over time, but it will not peel or chip.

Painted cabinets require more care than natural wood finishes. Paint is water-resistant, but is not completely water-proof. Depending on a family's life style and age of children, you may need occasional touch ups, because the rule of thumb is, "the drier the cabinets stay, the better the paint will hold up."

Our ML Campbell Finish, Primer and Paint is a Strong High Quality Product, that meets & exceeds the required performance levels established by KCMA and AWI test procedures for finishes. (It also performed excellent in our own experiments,)

and is also Formaldehyde- Free.

We also offer a maintenance service if ever needed down the road.

Care & Cleaning:

We recommend treating them like you would treat your high end furniture & wood floors.

  1. Wipe up splashing & spills as they occur. Give special attention to the sink area doors. Water sitting on the bottom shaker detail of a painted cabinet can cause peeling.  For wood cabinets, the finish dulls out over time from water.
  2. Avoid Unloading your Dishwasher when dishes are still wet.
  3. Use your Exhaust when cooking & pull your Coffee Maker out from under your cabinet when brewing, to avoid steam damage.
  4. Spot Clean only as needed, using a slightly damp cloth with a bit of dish detergent. Then dry well, especially in the little shaker door details.
  5. Spraying with Cleaning Products are a No-No.  Chemicals will weaken the finish to become more susceptible to water damage.  (Although, on Non-Painted Cabinets, Pledge or wood polish is fine.)
  6. A Mr. Clean Eraser works great to remove light scratches or marks on painted cabinets, but use very sparingly.
  7. For a little extra water repellent on your sink cabinet doors, rub a little Lemon Oil on the bottom of the doors & openings where water would collect. Also use sparingly.
  8. Do not hang wet dish towels on your cabinet doors.
  9. Floor Washing: Dry cabinet bottoms well where cabinets meet the floor. Water will settle in the cracks over time. Never use a Janitor's Mop, they are saturated with water and are bad for your cabinets and wood floors.
  10. Shelves: A layer of clear contact paper on your "high use" areas, such as in your Can Goods Shelf or Junk Drawer can add additional protection over time from scratches inside.
  11. Our Maintenance Service can absolutely fix most damage perfectly. If you find the need, most availability is offered during the Fall & Winter months for a reasonable price beyond the warranty period. Our door hinges clip off very easily to drop them off for quick service to drop them off.
